Reception starters 2026 Open events
At Great Sankey Primary, we believe every child deserves the best start to their educational journey. Our school consistently achieves exceptional academic results, performing above both local and national averages across all areas.
But we offer so much more than academic excellence. Our rich programme of extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities helps children discover new passions, build confidence, and develop valuable life skills. From sports to the arts, there’s something for every child to enjoy.
Our well-equipped outdoor spaces inspire creativity, imagination, and physical activity, supporting a healthy and active lifestyle. We also place great emphasis on personal growth and wellbeing, offering a strong holistic approach that nurtures the whole child.
We are proud of the warm, supportive relationships we build with our children, families, governors, and the wider community. We invite you to experience this for yourself by joining one of our open events for families with children starting school in 2026.
Most tours take place during the school day, giving you the chance to see our vibrant classrooms in action, explore our excellent facilities, and speak with the headteacher and senior leaders.

A message from Mrs Wilding
Our unique school is placed in the heart of our community and is driven by our motto of ‘Together We Learn and Grow’. We pride ourselves on the strong relationships we nurture with children, parents, governors and members of our local community.
It is our mission to inspire, challenge and support all our children to reach their true potential and to provide them with an exciting and relevant curriculum; a stimulating and safe environment; and the mental and physical guidance they need to flourish and become happy, confident and successful lifelong learners who can positively contribute to society.
Our website aims to provide you with a wide range of information that is designed to help you understand how we operate and gives you a feel for our school and our core values. We hope you enjoy viewing it, however, nothing replaces personal contact or seeing the school in action. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office for an appointment.
Kind regards,
Mrs Lisa Wilding
Headteacher
The GSP Core Values:
Our five core values have been especially chosen to demonstrate the qualities which we feel best reflect what it is to be a GSP citizen. These values are woven through our curriculum and are exemplified in our actions. When we capture a child demonstrating any of our values, we praise them and celebrate them.
Be Honest - We tell the truth and are fair.
Be Accepting - We understand how we are alike and how we are different, and we treat everyone with respect and understanding.
Be Responsible - We carry out roles and duties to the best of our ability and accept consequences for our actions.
Be Resilient - We tap into our strengths to overcome challenges and problems and we never give up.
Be Kind - We use caring words and our actions are friendly and considerate.
