Great Sankey Primary School

Punctuality

Why is punctuality so important?

The school gates open at 8.30am and doors to clasrooms open from 8.45am to allow children to come in prior to registration and complete a morning task.

The school gates close at 8.55.

Our register opens at 8.55 and is submitted at 9.05. If your child arrives in school in between 9.05 and 9.30, they will be marked as late.

If your child arrives after 9.30 when register closes, they will receive an unauthorised absence mark.

School starts promptly every day with children often coming in earlier then registration to start on morning challenges.

Lessons start at 9.05 with our youngest children taking part in phonics activities and KS2 accessing core skills lessons.

Arriving into school late can disrupt your child and unsettle them, which is then not the positive start to the day we strive for.

Punctuality is linked to good attendance, and as we know, good attenders have more opportunities and therefore achieve more!
