Prospective Reception Parents September 2025
Reception Intake September 2025
We have loved showing prospective reception 2025 families around our school over the past few weeks during the open events. We are always so proud to showcase the excellent work that takes place at GSP and it was lovely to hear the families being so complimentary about the school and children.
Although the formal events are now done, myself and senior leaders are still happy to show families around if they did not manage to make the set dates. Please just contact the school office to make an appointment.
Parents have until the 15th January 2025 to submit their primary school choices. Please click the link to find out more: https://www.warrington.gov.uk/primary-school-admissions

Reception Admissions
We recognise that choosing a school place for your child is a very important decision for you to make, and can be quite daunting for many parents. We would encourage all families to attend the open events of schools in their local area to get a good feel for the school as well as to visit their website and to talk to other parents in the community whose children may attend some of the schools. All of this will give you a head start on making the right choice for you and your child.

After the open events:
Once you have visited your chosen schools, parents must then follow the school's admission policy procedures and apply via the Warrington's primary school admissions form. If you select Great Sankey Primary and you receive notification in the spring term that the place is offered to you, you will be invited back into school to meet with the staff. Early Years staff will also make contact to visit your child in their nursery or pre-school setting or at home during Summer term. These meetings then inform our class structures ready for September.
During June / July, the children are invited into school to experience a morning or afternoon session with their class teacher and new friends. In September, further transition is built in where the children will attend school part-time for either morning or afternoon sessions. Throughout this period, staff liaise with families to ensure a smooth and happy transition. In addition to this, we hold a further parent meeting in October as well as parents' evenings throughout the year and Stay and Play sessions where you are invited into your child's classroom to watch your child learning.
